Today's Students Tomorrow's Teachers (TSTT) proudly celebrated the accomplishments of its Bridgeport, CT Region students, teacher mentors, families, and community partners during the 2026 Connecticut Regional Recognition Dinner held on May 27, 2026, at Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The event embraced this year's theme, "Continuing the Vision: Cultivating, Caring, Committed, and Competent Teachers," and highlighted the academic success, leadership, and educational aspirations of students throughout the Bridgeport region.
The evening began with a warm welcome from Carolann Reid, TSTT Team Leader, who recognized the school and district administrators whose ongoing partnership and commitment continue to strengthen opportunities for students pursuing careers in education.
Guests were inspired by keynote speaker Anthony Afriyie, Community Liaison for the Connecticut Port Authority and a dedicated public servant from Stratford, Connecticut. In his remarks, Afriyie encouraged students to remain engaged in their communities, pursue excellence in their academic and professional endeavors, and recognize the importance of civic leadership, economic inclusion, and equitable development in creating stronger futures for all.
The program showcased the voices and talents of TSTT students. Sofie Rasuk of Central High School offered the welcome remarks, while Shanoy Clarke of Bassick High School delivered the invocation. Following a scrumptious dinner, students Si'Vay Miller and Ednayra Lopez-Perez, both of Harding High School, provided special presentations that highlighted the promise and potential of TSTT scholars.
A particularly moving portion of the evening featured student reflections from Rebecca Bristhole of Harding High School and Johailyz Guzman of Central High School, who shared personal stories about their educational journeys, the impact of mentorship, and their aspirations to make a difference in the lives of future students.
The celebration also featured inspiring words from distinguished TSTT alumni Dr. Latanya Lawrence, Rithann Phillips-Cruz, and Donnamarie Faiella, who reflected on their own educational and professional journeys. Their success stories served as powerful reminders of the transformative impact of the TSTT program and demonstrated what is possible when students are supported, encouraged, and empowered to pursue their dreams.
Throughout the evening, students were recognized for their academic achievements, leadership, and commitment to the teaching profession. Awards and recognitions celebrated the hard work and perseverance of TSTT scholars as they continue their journeys toward becoming the next generation of educators and leaders.
In closing remarks, Ashley Richardson, Regional Program Manager for Bridgeport, Connecticut, emphasized the importance of celebrating student achievement and reaffirmed the vital partnership among TSTT, school districts, families, colleges, and community organizations. She highlighted the collective responsibility of nurturing future educators and ensuring that students have the support and opportunities needed to succeed.
