Today's Students Tomorrow's Teachers (TSTT) proudly celebrated the accomplishments of students, teacher mentors, families, and community partners during its 2026 Rockland Regional Recognition Dinner held on June 3, 2026 at the Raso Community Room at Palisades Center. The event embraced this year's theme, "Continuing the Vision: Cultivating, Caring, Committed, and Competent Teachers," and honored students from the East Ramapo, Nanuet, and North Rockland School Districts for their academic achievements, leadership, and commitment to pursuing careers in education.
The evening featured inspiring remarks from keynote speaker Dr. Monifa Tippitt of Kakiat STEAM Academy, along with distinguished guests Honorable Dr. Aney Paul, Rockland County Legislator and Legislative Vice Chair, and Sabrina Charles-Pierre, East Ramapo Board Trustee and Founder of Still I Rise. Their messages encouraged students to continue striving for excellence while recognizing the important role educators play in shaping future generations.
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the prestigious 2026 Lois T. Bronz Scholarship Award to Oluwatobiloba "Tobi" Fashipe of North Rockland High School. Inspired by the impact educators have had on his life, Tobi plans to attend Orange County Community College and pursue a career in education. The scholarship recognizes students who exemplify academic achievement, leadership, service, and a commitment to making a positive impact in their communities.
The celebration also recognized the achievements of TSTT students at every stage of their educational journey. Green Apple Awards were presented to graduating high school seniors, while Red Apple Awards honored TSTT college graduates who have successfully completed their degree programs. Special recognition was given to Marisa Polansky, teacher mentor from Pomona Middle School, who received the 5-Year Teacher Mentor Award in appreciation of her unwavering dedication, guidance, and commitment to developing future educators.
During the program, Harlan Dominique, Regional Program Manager for Rockland County, emphasized the importance of celebrating student success and reaffirmed TSTT's commitment to supporting aspiring educators throughout their academic and professional journeys.
Representing TSTT President and CEO Dr. Bettye H. Perkins, Program Director Rosario Samudio read from a statement from Dr. Perkins that reflected the organization's mission and vision:
"Today, we gather to celebrate excellence, perseverance, service, and the promise of the next generation of educators and leaders. This year's theme reminds us that the future of our communities depends on the educators we prepare today. At a time when our world often feels divided and uncertain, the need for compassionate, dedicated, and culturally responsive educators has never been greater. We gather not only to celebrate achievement but to recognize a new generation of leaders who are answering a profound calling—the calling to educate, uplift, mentor, and serve."
The Rockland Regional Recognition Dinner served as a powerful reminder of the impact that strong partnerships among schools, families, colleges, teacher mentors, and community leaders can have on cultivating the next generation of educators. Through continued collaboration and support, TSTT remains steadfast in its mission of inspiring students today to become the teachers and leaders of tomorrow.
